Become a Friend of the Playhouse

Miskatonic Playhouse is a podcast that celebrates community created scenarios for Call of Cthulhu.

We are a hub for writers, artists and other creators working in Cosmic Horror.

Through our Kofi, you can become a 'Friend of the Playhouse,' purchase our exclusive podcasts or jump the queue and get your ad or AP on the Playhouse.

Why Support the Playhouse?

The Miskatonic Playhouse is a community-led podcast that is producing actual play versions of as many community created titles as we can. We aim to bridge the gap between amateur attempts and professional products.

In doing this, we feel we are doing a vital service for a dedicated community, and we invite you all to come along with us in whatever form that may take.

For some, that will be kicking in a few quid per month to support the project while others may contribute their time and expertise as producers and editors. The key thing we’d love folk to realise is how much work goes into creating a podcast other than just sitting at a table, laughing with your friends.

Supporting the Playhouse allows us to dedicate more time to the project, pays upkeep costs (such as the website) and lets us explain to our partners why it’s so important we spend all night checking Discord.

The Playhouse model is completely transparent. You know exactly where your money is going when you give it to us.

The Playhouse Payment Model

Income into the Playhouse (after costs) is split three ways:

  • 50% pays the creative team for each project

  • 25% goes to the administrative team

  • 25% is added to the Kitty

The Creative team for a project is sometimes an individual and sometimes a small team. Most teams are made up of a Keeper, who organises the actual play and a producer or sound technician that turns the raw footage into a podcast and video.

The administrative team is TA Newman (Host), Stu Sellens (Producer) and John Hedge (Backstage Manager).

The Kitty is an investment pot for software licenses, equipment and other things the Playhouse requires to produce the best podcasts it possibly can

The Playhouse does not pay its players as it is not a fully professional production. Nor do we pay for regular Matinee productions. Instead focusing on the high quality Main Stage.

  • Our offshoot productions must complete one full season before they qualify for support.

  • Those creating VIP Fringe productions are required to create an equal or greater number of Matinee shows.

  • We respect and support our post production team. At least 50% of the creative budget is always spent on post production.
